A day in a life of a Metic


[My experience] in class I really didn't do anything special, it was like a  normal day other people had slaves and had them go get stuff, they got to be lazy, the slaves got chosen by a couple of citizens and had to do what they said glad I wasn't one of those.

[Real Experience] Real Metics sleep most likely in their stand that they sell all of their goods at. they weren't allowed to own land or a  slave or really anything, they woke up on the ground really early and started selling their stuff to the people that purchased usually men that could walk alone the women had to have a boy with them either A slave,  husband or relative. The slaves were chosen by couples and had to do anything they said. The slaves were either born poor and were sold as a slave for money so they could get out of debt. Metics are people not born in Athens that's discluded and weren't allowed everything others are allowed. The citizens were allowed everything others were allowed. The citizens were allowed government [except women]  they were allowed to walk around freely [except women] and were allowed, slaves.

The Story

I woke up in my store on the floor with a pillow as a sack of sand early in the morning as the sun Shawn down on my shop and me, I finally woke up and started selling my goods in the Agora, I sold food mainly Of  berries, it was very hot here and I was always in my store selling to the citizens that were going shopping in the agora.

I always felt bad for the slaves I saw very frequently leading their master's wife,

cause women couldn't leave their property alone or without a male, and they couldn't go take part in the government or own land, kinda like me. but they could have slaves.

The men could do everything, everyone was jealous of their position in the democratic rating of people they could own land wander freely have slaves go to take part in government they had an amazing life of glory,

as the slaves were barely even fed and couldn't do anything they could.

I was having a quiet  day when someone bought so much that I felt rich it was like they bought my entire store, I felt amazing but I really couldn't buy anything, but stuff to sell and food which I usually ate my own so the money didn't help me in the end but in the moment I was ecstatic. As a metic I just sell stuff and live in the Agora, we really couldn't do anything else, well it's time for bed I have a big day tomorrow bye.
