A Day in the Life Of A Slave…

Today I was pretty free in my master backyard. You see you may be thinking “well aren’t you always free to go anywhere?”, no, no I am not. See I am a slave in Ancient Athens and I serve two masters. I live in his backyard in the open on a dirt bed. I do many things in a day, like do whatever my masters. I live with a male and female citizens, also a male metic. I serve both of the citizens but not the male metic, Mario. My female master Alora can’t go anywhere out of her property without a male so I have to go with her usually because my other male master, Giannis, is too lazy to go with her. I usually go to the markets with her if she needs new clothing, but not food, I get that. My master Giannis is part of the Boule of Athens. Alora and Mario can’t be a part of any part of the Athens government because Mario is a metic and Alora is a female. You see I can’t take part in any government either because I am a slave. I was not always a slave actually, I was a male citizen until a big war happened. The other nation won and we were all sent to be prisoners and then sold as slaves with no pay for being a slave. Well that pretty much sums up my life and my masters. *Ring Ring Ring* Well my master is calling me, bye!
